DeNOBLE, Adeline Elizabeth
Peacefully at St. Joseph's at Fleming Nursing Home on Saturday, October 17, 2009 in her 103rd year. Beloved wife of the late Alfred V. DeNoble (1999). Loving mother of Richard (Jeanette) of Whitby, Rosemary Cavanagh (Thomas) of Sherbrooke, Quebec, John of Montreal, Elizabeth, Shirley Pearson (Ranald), and Bernice Fortin (Marcel) of Peterborough and Gerald (Mary) of Kingston. Predeceased by her parents Richard and Ellen Carveth, brother Arthur Carveth, sister Esther Devlin and daughter-in-law Barbara DeNoble. Adeline was born in Douro, Ontario on November 13th, 1906, the daughter of Richard and Ellen Carveth. Her early education took place in a one-room school in Douro, and when her family moved to Peterborough in 1922 she completed her education and graduated from St. Peter's High School. In 1929 she married Alfred DeNoble. Together they had seven children. Today she is the grandmother of sixteen grandchildren and great-grandmother of ten. All her life Adeline had been very interested in the outdoors-from trips to the nearby woods as a child to a love of plants and gardening in later years. She was an avid craftswoman with a love for quilting, knitting and crocheting. She loved to read and even though blind in later years, enjoyed being read to by her daughters. Traveling was another of her favourite activities. Frequent trips to both coasts of Canada and the United States and a visit to her ancestral home in Ireland were good memories for her. Always a woman of great faith, Adeline instilled in her children a love for their Catholic religion and encouraged in them the faithful practice of Christian principles. She was a great lady, a wonderful mother and grandmother, interested in all family, neighbourhood and political events, viewing everything with keen interest, opinion and humour. God bless you, Mom. We miss you and will love you forever.
