Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Palliative Care on Saturday, February 23, 2008 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Fern (nee Troke) - July 4, 2007. Loving father of Joan and husband Gary Long of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Patricia Lance of Peterborough, Bruce Lance of Fonthill, and Bonnie Long of Keene. Dear grandfather of Kelly and Wendy Lance, Shawna and Andrew McLachlan, Tine and Kirby Sheppard and Christina Long. Dear great grandfather of Anthony, Nicholas, Tyler, Benjamin, Daniel and Ava. Dear brother of Patrick Lance and wife Mina, and Albertine Cruise of Welland, Beatrice Miller and husband Ronald of Sault Ste. Marie, Anita Bertulli of Port Colborne and Bernard Lance and wife Helen of Sault St. Marie. Pre-deceased by his parents Alexandre Lance and Marguerite Castonguay, brother Edward and sisters Florence, Eva, Blanche and Elizabeth. Art was a foreman with the Chrome Plant in Sault Ste Marie, a millwright in Welland for 28 years before retiring to Peterborough in 1983. He enjoyed fishing and golfing especially in his retirement years.

Visitation at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. (Parish Prayers 6:30 p.m. Tuesday). Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church on Wednesday February 27, 2008 at 10 a.m. Reverend Jerzy Zebrowski officiating. Interment Highland Park Cemetery. Donations to PRHC, Palliative Care or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
