Obituary

CROWLEY, Catherine Joan (nee Christie) passed away peacefully at her beloved Rose Avenue home in Peterborough on April 12, 2024, after a fierce and determined seven-year battle with cancer, defying all expectations. Joan was born on October 4, 1943, in Indian River, the third child of the late John Edward Christie and Adeline (Ada) Herr Christie's nine children. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Church and Auxiliary; a retired Nashua Canada/Peterborough Paper Converters employee; a Life Member of Kawartha Golf & Country Club and the Peterborough Petes' number one fan and season ticket holder.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband William George Crowley (2008), her brothers Donnie, Frank and Bernard (Charlie); her brother-in-law Doug Chase and her sister-in-law Anne Christie. She is survived by her devoted family, including: loving stepsons William Francis Crowley (Lynn) of Kimberly, B.C. and Patrick Michael Crowley (Sue) of London, Ontario; cherished grandchildren Jennifer (Mike Miceli), Christine (Kristopher) Douglas, Nicolette and Thomas and great grandson Max; dear siblings Anne Chase, Marie Snetsinger (Don), Mamie Jackson (Paul), Vince Christie (Dianne) and Helen McMahon (Tom); and sisters-in-law Kathleen Christie and Norah Crowley Graham. Joan was also a proud aunt to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. We already miss the sparkle in her eyes and her sharp wit, yet are comforted knowing she's at peace and has reunited with Bill and the family she dearly missed.
