Charles Dixon
Dodds Jr.
May 16, 1928 — May 12, 2025
Norwood
DODDS, Charles Dixon Jr.
May 16, 1928 - May 12, 2025
Passed away peacefully in the palliative care ward at Peterborough Regional Health Centre after living a long and wonderful life surrounded by family daily. Charlie the stubborn Scot he was, was determined to hang on till his 97th birthday making him the oldest Dodds male to have ever lived (at least back as far as we can trace in our family tree back to 1473). He was only 4 days short of reaching that milestone. On May 12th just after noon he went to join his mother Annie, father Charles Sr., his brothers Bill, Jack and Peter and the love of his life Marion.
The last of his generation, he will be forever missed by his loving daughter Linda, son in law Murray and his grandchildren, Sabrina (Brad), Justin, Samantha and Shaun (Corby). His great grandchildren, Oliver, Sterling, Walker, Connor and Tenley, as well as his many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was "Grandpa Charlie" to so many, all of the foster children Linda and Murray cared for over the years and all of his grandchildren's friends growing up. Everyone who spent time with him loved him, family meant everything to Charlie. He was a legend on Belmont Lake, known as one of the original land owners on Big Island, the year-round resident and the "guy with the hovercraft" he built a legacy to be handed down through his family for generations. Though he will be sadly missed, his love and kindness will never be forgotten.
We would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the PRHC palliative care doctors and nurses for their tireless care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the P.R.H.C. Foundation. Charlie's celebration of life will be held on June 15th, 1-4 pm at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South Peterborough, ON. If you have pictures of good times you shared with Charlie, Sabrina is putting together slide shows so we can all talk about our cherished memories we had with him.
