Charlotte (Carlie)
Margaret Kelly

Peterborough
KELLY, Charlotte (Carlie) Margaret
It is with deep sorrow and much love we mourn the passing of Charlotte (Carlie) Margaret (née MacDonald) Kelly of Peterborough on Thursday November 24, 2022 in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Kelly. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Mary (Peter), Peter predeceased (Jill), Pat, Moira (Paul), Ian (Ann) and Christine (Peter). Dear grandmother of Dan, Loni (Kerry), Sheena, Tanya, Jari (Nicole), Daniel, Jade and Veronika. Dear great-grandmother of Kaelan, Kai, Cole and Charlotte.
Carlie lived a rich and meaningful life. She moved from one role to another with ease and purpose. Her rich Scottish heritage and her Catholic faith provided a framework for all that she did. She taught French and German in Britain before moving to Canada. She and Len raised a family of six, starting in the Bancroft area and settling in Peterborough where she taught with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board for 18 years.
She made life-long friends of many teachers and after she retired continued to be active with the Peterborough branch of the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario. She was a reader for the CNIB for many years and she took her love of bridge to the next level with her friends in the bridge community. She was also the undisputed Scrabble champ of the family. She followed her passion for travel when she retired. She shared many trips with family members to all parts of the globe.
Carlie was a compassionate, patient, positive and peaceful person and that extended to the many wild animals and birds that shared her garden.
Private family visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at St. Alphonsus Liguori Church on Tuesday November 29, 2022 at 11am. Interment at Rosemount Memorial Gardens will be followed by a reception at Duffus Funeral Home at 1:15 pm. In memory of Carlie, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made to
