Obituary

BREAKSPEAR, Colleen Teresa (nee Gilbert)

Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Breakspear (d. 1996). Loving and devoted mother of Dan (Maureen), Maureen DeBellefeuille (John), Melanie Brown (Gary), Denise, Susan Davidson (Tom), and John (Susie). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Jenna (Dave), Jesse, Katie, Jody (Chris), Kelly (Ben), Nelson (Michelle), Andre (Ashley), Stacia and her 9 great grandchildren. Colleen was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Gilbert and is pre-deceased by her grandson, Paul and her siblings Max, Marcella, Gen, Marie, Pauline, Marjorie (Toots) and Ernest (Red). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and her good friends and neighbours. Mom loved and was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she was a kind, caring lady. She was small in stature but strong in so many ways. She loved to read and listen to classical music. She enjoyed travelling, gardening, painting, baking, shopping and going to live plays. Her health declined in the past 12 years causing her many daily struggles, but she never complained and never wanted to "bother" anyone for help, as was her thoughtful way. She had a strong faith in God which especially helped her through the past few difficult years. We will miss her dearly. She was a sweetheart, she was our hero. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Applewood Retirement Residence, Rubidge Retirement Residence, We Care, the Peterborough Access Centre, the Dialysis Management Clinic (High Street) and the Dialysis Department at PRHC as well as all the staff at PRHC for your kindness and exceptional care of our mother. There will be no visitation.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at ST. ANNE'S CHURCH, 859 Barnardo Avenue on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Colleen's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
