David was born on November 21, 1952, in Peterborough to Fred and Kathleen (Casey) Crowley. He died on January 2, 2023 at the age of 70. Loving brother of Mary (Jim Senior) of Courtenay, BC and Judy Byrd (Bill) of Peterborough and uncle to Nathan, Delaney, Alicia (Dillon), and Adam (Kelly). David will be missed by Kelly's children, Meg, Marissa and Andrew and his many cousins and friends.
David developed his strong work ethic working on the farm as a youngster and was very supportive to his family. His quiet, gentle, caring manner will be greatly missed.
His work for GE and AECL (Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd) included working internationally in Romania and South Korea, and at nuclear generating stations in Canada. He built fuel handling equipment and tooling for nuclear reactor refurbishing and inspection.
David enjoyed team sports playing hockey and slow pitch for years with work colleagues and friends. He loved skiing and enjoyed trips with ski clubs to many ski destinations in Europe, the US and Canada. He enjoyed biking with friends in the summer.
Visitation at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023. Funeral Mass at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION, CHURCH, OTONABEE on Friday. January 13, 2023 at 1 p.m. Masks are optional for those attending the visitation and mass. (For those who are unable to attend, the mass will be livestreamed on the Duffus Funeral Home Facebook page and a recording of the mass will be available on the funeral home website after 3 p.m. on Friday) Reception to follow at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Hall. Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery. In memory of David, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.duffusfuneralhome.com
