O'KEEFE, Dominic Joseph (Dom) (Retired Pharmacist)
Passed away peacefully at Empress Gardens, on Thursday, May 12, 2022 in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Doreen Shaughnessy (May 2004). Loving father of Jim O'Keefe and wife Diane of Peterborough, the late Bob O'Keefe (September 2018), and the late Anne Berger (March 2022). Dear father-in-law of Tom Berger of Ladner, B.C. Proud Bumpa of Mary and Brian Berger. Dear brother-in-law of Marilyn Sullivan (late Paul), Eileen McTeague (late Patrick) and the late Al Shaughnessy (late Bernadette). Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Thomas O'Keefe and Mary Ellen Kearney and an infant sister. Dom was born and raised in Lindsay. He graduated from U of T in 1948 and was a pharmacist in Peterborough for more than 50 years. Known for his friendly demeanor and sense of humour, Dom enjoyed interacting with his customers at Lynch's Drugstore, Riteway, Towers and The Peterborough Clinic. He was a long-time member of St. Peter's Parish. Dom was a dedicated and devoted husband and father. He was always willing to play a board game, cards, and ping pong with his kids. He was even known to play a rare game of chess or golf. Dom made an all-out effort to ensure his family always had a great summer, by renting a cottage for the month of August and supervising fishing trips, boating, and swimming activities. He was a master of cooking hamburgers on the BBQ. Dom showed a keen interest in his children's pastimes whether it be geo-caching, emergency radio scanners, amateur radio, computers, guitars or hamsters. Thank you to the staff at Empress Gardens who showed kindness to Dom, especially Debby and Adrienne.
