MOLONEY, Dorothy Anne

In joyful thanksgiving of a life fully lived, we are nonetheless saddened to announce the death of Dorothy Moloney on July 19th, 2014 at Fairhaven, Peterborough. For more than fifty seven years, "Dot" has been the lovingly cherished wife of Timothy Moloney, with whom she raised a family and created a home where all were welcome. Devoted mother of Father Bill Moloney, Janet and Greg Shillinglaw, Randy and Lori Moloney, Colleen and Jim Shipley, Clair and Nancy Moloney and Tim and Theresa Moloney, Dorothy tirelessly led by example throughout all the stages of their lives. The adoring grandmother of Jimmy, Ali, Jenna, Ben, Kirk, Molly, Janine, Carlie, Shauna, Alex, Shannon and Timmy, Dorothy has left indelible marks on each of their lives teaching them to work hard, have faith and be ever grateful for the gifts bestowed upon them. Born on January 9th, 1932, Dorothy was the second child of Ambrose and Kathleen Crough. Her formative years played out against the backdrop of Crough's General Store in Ennismore with her seven siblings, Norma Crossman (Joe), Betty Doyle (Eddie), Alma Crough, Eleanor Young (Bobby), Billy Crough (Carol), Geraldine Butterfield (Bob) and Paul Crough (Judy). Dorothy's marriage to Tim brought her into the fold of his birth family where she was embraced by Tim's parents, Peter and Sarah Moloney and his siblings, Alice and Jim Kinlin, Mick and Kay Moloney, Homer and Lorraine Moloney, Mary and Pat O'Donnell and Patricia Moloney, affectionately known as Beck. As a graduate of Peterborough Business College, Dorothy worked for The Ackerman Company prior to her married life. Once the children were all in school, Dorothy became the valued secretary of her brother-in-law, Robert Young, of Robert Young Construction, affording her the blessing of renewing her ties to Ennismore and the people she held so dear. Dorothy's trademark was humility and her "call" was "service to others." Dorothy answered her call publicly as a volunteer at Marycrest Home For The Aged and in active membership of several church and community groups. Her call was answered privately by responding in prayer when needs were high.

Family and friends will be welcomed at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South, Peterborough on Wednesday, July 23rd from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.. Dorothy's funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 24th at 10:30 am at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 386 Rogers Street, Peterborough. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Douro. In acknowledgement of the unparalleled care given to Dorothy during the final fifteen months of her life, donations to The Fairhaven Foundation will be humbly received.
