Eleanor entered into rest peacefully surrounded by her six children at Hospice Peterborough, 325 London St. on Easter Sunday April 20th, 2025. Eleanor, was in her 90th year, born December 6th, 1935, Ennismore, Ontario and was the beloved wife of the late Robert Young for more than 52 years. Loving mother of Ilene (Dave) Brioux, Sara Marshall, Lenore (late Neil) Allen, Robert (Julie) Young, Carl (Kathryn) Young, and Don (Stephanie) Young. Predeceased by granddaughter Julie-Lynn. Proud G Mama to Cole, Evelyn, Stella, Luke, Blake, Kurtis, Cam, Jocelyn, Bo, Oak, Amelia, Mack, Clay, Garnet, Remy and Wren. Pre-deceased by Great Grandson Cub. Eleanor was the daughter of the late Ambrose Crough and Kathleen Dalton and loving sister of Paul (Judy) Crough and sister in-law Carol Crough. Predeceased by her brother and sisters Norma (Joe) Crossman, Dorothy (Tim) Moloney, Betty (Eddie) Doyle, Alma Crough, Billy Crough and Geraldine (Bob) Butterfield. Sister in law to the late Joe Young (the late Zita), the late Billy Young (the late Anne), Jean Winn (the late Steve Winn and the late Owen Swift), Madeline Cadigan (the late Bob), the late Fergus Young (the late Verda), the late Pat Young (Bonnie), Irene Grills (the late Roy), and Johnny and Helen Young. Eleanor was the cornerstone of her family, a beacon of wisdom and quiet strength whose witty humor, intelligence and warm spirit left a lasting imprint on all who knew her. She shared her love of knowledge in her early years as a teacher, and later became the definition of hard work by raising a family and being an active member in the community. Faith was her foundation as she was deeply rooted in the Catholic Church, a long time member of the CWL for over 65 years and a woman of prayer and devotion. Eleanor loved the little things most. Sitting in a chair at the Point on Sundays, drinking a cup of tea under the Mountain Ash after Sunday breakfast, completing crossword puzzles at record speed, knitting a pair of colorful socks for the next birthday, laying out the latest quilt pattern, or playing a hand of cards with a cheating eye. Always wearing an apron, her kitchen was the heart of the home, always full of warmth, laughter and the loud chatter of loved ones around a full kitchen table. Her unwavering kindness, brilliant mind and sense of humor will never be forgotten. She was welcomed with open arms by her ever lovin', is at peace and smiling down from afar.
