WHITE, Garvin Harvey (Retired Canadian General Electric Company Employee, Longtime Member of St. James United Church where he served as a Board Member and Trustee)
Peacefully at St. Joseph's at Fleming on Monday, May 5, 2014 in his 81st year, with his family at his side. Beloved husband of the late Beryl (nee Rusaw) (April 4, 2012) for 57 years. Loving father of Cheryl White, Dale (Jayne) White, Brenda (Robert) Byers, David (Michelle) White, and Lisa (Bill) Mollard. Garvin leaves eleven grandchildren; Misha and Ben, Marguerite and Danielle, Rob and Scott, Matthew, Luke and Mackenzie, and Adam and Kate and dear step-grandfather of Kim. Dear nephew of Azella Brown and Jackie Duffus. Brother of Shirley (Roger) Hawkins. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents Sawyer White and Valetta (Doreen) Brown and sister Eyvonne Dalgleish (late husband Clifford). Dear brother-in-law of Shirley Hendren, Belford (Don) Fuller, Betty (John) Boustead, Fred (Shirley) Rusaw, Paul Rousseau, and Betty Rusaw.
Garvin was born on December 16, 1933 on the White family farm near Goodwater, Saskatchewan. His family moved to Peterborough in 1936 where he attended the Mays Public School and PCVS. After high school he worked for 33 years at Canadian General Electric in various positions finishing as the foreman of the garage.
Visitation at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014. A Celebration of Garvin's life will take place at ST. JAMES UNITED CHURCH, 221 Romaine Street on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. Reception will follow. Interment Rosemount Memorial Gardens.
