WHIBBS, Helen

At Peterborough Regional Health Centre with her husband by her side, M. Helen Whibbs, age 67, of Douro, formerly of Peterborough, died on Monday February 9, 2015. Helen was born April 25, 1947, in Peterborough, to Joseph and Jean (Whaley) Coss. She grew up there, attending school at Immaculate Conception where she would meet her future husband, Joe Whibbs. She went on to study at St. Peter's and Peterborough Collegiate. In 1971, she married Joe Whibbs and moved to Toronto, Kingston and finally settled in Douro, Ontario where they were blessed with two children who they raised on their farm. She was known for her hard work, unfailing compassion and caring for others throughout her entire life. Helen is dearly remembered for being devoted to her faith in God and the selfless love of her family; she was proud of her Irish heritage. She was truly an example of God's best work. She was the dear mother of Mike and Tara (Conlin) Whibbs of Peterborough and Mary Kate Whibbs of Toronto. She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Bridget Whibbs. She was the dear sister and sister-in-law of Joan and John Punshon, Nancy and Ron Ruff, Kathryn and Don Hounam, all of Peterborough and John and Patricia Coss of Colborne. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South, Peterborough, on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. (Parish Prayers 3:45 p.m. Thursday). The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Douro on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Douro.
