BURKE, Joseph (Joe)

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side  at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Isabel for 63 years. Loving father of Dan Burke, David Burke and wife Janine, and Jennifer Burke. Longtime friend of Ronald Turner. Predeceased by his brothers Bill, Eddie, Martin, Pat and Mike. Joe owned and operated Jerry's Quik Chek Variety Store and various Quik Chek locations as well as the Downtown Bus Terminal Coffee Shop in Peterborough. He was an avid fund raiser for Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation. Joe was the co-founder of the Peterborough Water Ski Club and was actively involved in the many summer events on Little Lake.  He was a long time member of the Father Paul Costello Knights of Columbus Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains Parish Council # 9873. Joe was a former active member of the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains Parish where he served as an usher for many years. He is lovingly remembered by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Joe's life will be held at a later date followed by Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery. In memory of Joe, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.duffusfuneralhome.com
