It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Len O'Brien on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre surrounded by his children. Len was in his 82nd year yet possessed a much younger spirit. He is now joined eternally in Heaven with his much missed wife Marcelle (d. 2015). Left with broken hearts are his children Charmaine O'Brien (Dave), Julie Conlin (Bill), Darren (Charyl) and Shawn (Deanne). "Poppa" will also be sorely missed by his grandchildren Kevin (friend Brittney), Jessica (fiancee James), Jade, Carlie, Ashley, Lauren and Big Nate. Len was the last surviving of the 12 children of Pat and Mary O'Brien. He was predeceased by siblings Nell Brady (John), Geraldine, Jean Colwill (Ernie) and brothers Den, Ray (Vi), Jack (Renee), Ed (Rowene), Bernard, Fred (Birdie), Claire and Dick (Evelyn). Len will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Maureen O'Brien and her husband Ferg, and Elaine Killen (late Leon). Predeceased brothers-in-law Frank Murray (Rhena), Pat Murray (Julia Marie), Tom Murray and sisters-in-law Ella McCormick (Frank), "Toots" Cavanagh (Mike), Olive Gagliardi (Peter), Alma Coughlin (Martin), Rita Molnar (Frank), and Lenore Cavanagh (Leo). Uncle "Lenny" will be forever remembered by his more than 90 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. (Parish Prayers 3:30 p.m. Tuesday). Funeral Mass will be held at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, 300 Wilson Street on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery in Ennismore.
