Obituary

MELANSON, Louise Marie

Louise passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 peacefully at the Lakefield Extendicare with her family present.  She was the beloved wife of the late Aurele Joseph Melanson (June 17, 1991).  A cherished Mother to Larry (Nancy), +Janet, Val, Don, Janet and Danny.  She was a proud Nanny to 13 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Gregory, Kasey, Michael, Alida, Miranda, Daniel, Jacinta, Chris, Shawn, Kimberly, Jeffrey and Troy and 18 great grandchildren.  Daughter of the late Henry and Marie Leblanc.  She was one of seventeen siblings.  She will be lovingly missed by her twin sister Maria LeBlanc of Moncton NB, still with us, along many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A large portion of Louise's life was spent at Nassau where she was an exceptional Mother with a strong backbone.  The rock still stands where our family gathered and will always remind us of Mom's strength.  Mom was always waiting for her children to come home safely from their adventures.  She enjoyed her summer days with her family at the Homestead trailer park and taking walks thru Riverview Zoo.   Mom took pleasures in the simple things in life.  Her curiosity and giggles will be missed.  Louise worked at Trent University for 18 years receiving an award for her outstanding service.

Special thanks to the wonderful residents, staff, and Dr. Hughes, at Lakefield Extendicare, who provided exceptional care and compassion especially over the most recent months.  To Don (Duke) for the numerous visits, your songs always made mom smile.

Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 11 th , 2019  from 6-8 p.m. at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME , 431 George Street South, Peterborough, Ontario.  Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER-IN-CHAINS , 411 Reid Street.  Followed by a reception at the Knights of Columbus, 317 Hunter Street West.  In lieu of flowers a donation to The Lakefield Extendicare Resident Council Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences may be made at duffusfuneralhome.com
