BRENNAN, M. Sheila
Sheila passed away peacefully on Friday August 12th, 2016 at Hastings Centennial Manor Bancroft, one month before her 102nd birthday. She was born September 11, 1914 in Gravenhurst Ontario, the daughter of Aubrey Brennan and Irene (Moreton) Brennan of Lindsay. She was educated in Lindsay at St. Mary's Convent and Baker Business College and resided in Lindsay, Toronto, Peterborough and Bancroft, Ontario. She was a loving sister to Irene Winnifred Brennan and husband Harry Taylor of Uxbridge, Edward Richard Brennan and wife Ruth (Perrin) of Perth, Harold James Brennan and wife Rita (Fox) of Peterborough, William Moreton Brennan and Anne (Love) of Lindsay. Sheila started her career in 1939 as a stenography clerk at the Underwood Type Writer Company of Toronto. She soon became secretary to the treasurer and finally she was Personnel Records Administrator. She retired after 45 years of service. She was a longtime friend and companion to William B. Scully who passed away March 29, 1979. Sheila was athletic and very active socially joining an ice skating group in her 70's and still ice skating in her 80's. At 90 she broke both hips but recovered quickly and continued to regularly walk the Peterborough Millennium Trail. Sheila was the keeper of the family photos and history, never forgetting a birthday or an anniversary. She was never judgmental always looking at things with an active and open mind, no subject being taboo and was always available when someone was in need.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 24th, 2016 at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Lindsay at 1 p.m. followed by a luncheon at the Lindsay Legion at 2 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.duffusfuneralhome.com
