Margaret passed away at St. Joseph's at Fleming, on Monday, September 28, 2026 in her 99th year. Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Roger Tessier (predeceased in 2022) for 65 years. Loving mother to Paul (Deb), John, Mark (Crystalyn) and Lisa (Mike). Dear grandmother to Eric (Jenny), Jennifer (Ray), Michael, Laura (Ryan), Byron (HK), and Evan. Great grandmother of Penelope, Zoe and Ethan. Margaret was predeceased by her brother Jack. Dear sister of Frank (Pat deceased), Paul (Marlene), Steve (Ann) and Maureen (Melvin). Margaret was the daughter of the late Carmelita (Morrissey) and Walter Herlihey. Margaret grew up in Downeyville. She began teaching in a one room school house at age 18. Margaret continued her education and taught elementary school with the PVNC Catholic School Board in Peterborough until her retirement. Margaret and Roger enjoyed many years together on Chemong Lake. First at their cottage and later in their home on the lake. They enjoyed travelling and wintering together in Florida for many years. Margaret enjoyed bridge and later in life continued playing bid euchre and gin. Margaret enjoyed friendships at St. Joseph's at Fleming and family would like to thank staff for their compassionate care.
A funeral mass with be held in St. Luke's Catholic Church, 340 St. Luke's Road, Downeyville, Ontario K9V 4R5 on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at St. Luke's Cemetery and a reception at St. Luke's Parish Hall, Downeyville to celebrate the lives of Margaret and Roger.
