Marianne Gertrude Sabatino
Born August 1, 1933 - Died March 31, 2019
SABATINO, Marianne Gertrude. Surrounded by her family, Marianne passed away peacefully with courage, grace and dignity at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on March 31, 2019 in her 86 th year. Daughter of the late Romeo Leonard and Bregetta McManus. Beloved and cherished wife of Joseph Michael Sabatino for 6o years. Loving and proud mother of John Sabatino (Fay), Michael Sabatino (Sandra) and Carla Sabatino (Vincent Zaffino). Dear grandmother to Christina, Cara, Tyler and Jessica. Loved and missed by her sisters Betty Lou Fair (late Robert), Linda Pearson (late Robert) and brother-in-Law Kevin Heffernan. Predeceased by her sister Barbara. Also remembered by her brother-in-law, Eugene Sabatino and wife Ruth and their families. Dear aunt to eight nieces and six nephews. Marianne was known for her warm, friendly manner, kind heart, thoughtfulness and enormous generosity – always putting others before her needs. She was happiest entertaining and taking care of family. Marianne was famous for her cooking, especially her spaghetti sauce, chicken cacciatore, seafood lasagna, numerous appetizers and holiday baking. Visitors to our home would often be treated to her many delicacies and perhaps coaxed into a cocktail or two. Her desire to host regular family get-togethers is a testament to her love and perseverance to keep the "family unit" together and thriving. If you wish to feel her spirit, listen to "I'll Be Seeing You" – preferably the Vera Lynn version.
Marianne's family would like to thank the many doctors (Dr. Beaubien, Dr. Goodge, Dr. Hughes, Dr. Woods, and Dr. Yousseff) and dedicated medical staff and paramedics at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre and Emergency Unit for their care and compassion during her time with them. Visitation at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019. Funeral Mass at ST. ANNE'S CHURCH on Saturday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at ST. ANNE'S PARISH HALL.
In memory of Marianne, donations to Community Living Trent Highlands for CDA or Peterborough Regional Health Centre would be appreciated by the family. On-line condolences may be expressed at duffusfuneralhome.com
