WASSON, MARIE (NEE DRUMM)

It is with deep sadness that the Wasson family announce the peaceful passing of Marie on the morning of September 9th, 2024, at PRHC at the age of 95.

Marie was born October 1st 1928 to Ted and Sarah Georgina (Jean) Drumm. She was the eldest of 3 children and is predeceased by her brothers George (Hazel) and Mike (June) Drumm.

Marie was born, grew up, and raised her family in Peterborough. She was married to her beloved husband of 69 years Donald (Red) Wasson and was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a cherished grand and great grandmother. She will be lovingly and forever remembered by her three children, Terry Wasson (Catherine) of Ennismore, Don Wasson Jr., of Peterborough, and Merrie Wasson of Toronto. She will be greatly missed by her three grandchildren, Jamie Sokary (Mason), Mallory Wasson (John Ward), and Matthew Smith, and her 2 great granddaughters Samia and Laila Sokary. Marie also leaves behind 32 nieces and nephews, several of which remained very close to her.

Marie found fulfilment volunteering at Anson House as well as Northminster United Church where she was a faithful and active member for over 60 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her time in the workplace, first at GE during the second world war, and later at Eatons for 30 years. Marie had many hobbies including walking, baking and would sit by the hour listening to music, doing crosswords and she absolutely loved to read! Marie will forever be remembered as someone who embodied kindness and chose happiness. She was forever surrounded by long-time loyal and supportive friends that were enduringly kind to one another. Always a great conversationalist, Marie spent many hours on the phone reminiscing and catching up with close friends and family - all will miss her dearly!

At Marie's request, a private burial service is to be held at Rosemount Memorial Gardens in Peterborough on September 13th for immediate family.
