Mary Ellen
Margaret Macadam
Oct 25, 1921 — Oct 21, 2022
Peterborough
Ellen/Ella/Ell passed away peacefully at Royal Gardens, on Friday, October 21, 2022, 4 days before her 101st birthday. Beloved wife of the late Cyril MacAdam (1977). Lovingly remembered by Diane (Moloney) and Jim O'Keefe.
Aunt of Mike, Rick, Carol and their families. Predeceased by her parents Daniel Kennedy Crough and Loretta O'Donoghue, her sister Teresa Crough, her brother Mark Crough (late Muriel) and nephew Doug Crough.
Ella was an exemplary teacher who started her career in a K-8 one room schoolhouse in her hometown of Ennismore. For decades she taught primary grades mostly in North York. She concluded her 46-year career teaching part-time English as a Second Language (ESL) which she found especially rewarding. She returned to Peterborough in 1990.
Ella was an avid traveler visiting over 50 countries. She loved entertaining, often hosting euchre or bridge games. Her creativity was shown through her paintings which many delighted in receiving as gifts. She enjoyed theatre, live music and yoga and generously supported many charities.
Ella was open-minded and gave sensible and sound advice. She will be fondly remembered as a loyal friend who was an excellent listener with a quick wit and dry sense of humour.
Thank you to the caring staff at Royal Gardens, Ella's home for over 10 years, for their kindness and compassion. Special thanks to Joanne and Kendra.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at the CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER-IN-CHAINS on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, Ennismore. In memory of Ellen, donations to Catholic Missions In Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.duffusfuneralhome.com
