May Veronica
Gravelle
Dec 7, 1923 — Dec 8, 2020
Peterborough
GRAVELLE, May Veronica
May was born on December 7, 1923 in Glasgow Scotland and emigrated to Canada as a Scottish War bride in 1946 on the Queen Mary after World War II and landed in Halifax with her one sister Margaret, and Margaret's first child Yvonne, then on to Peterborough to start a new life. May was the loving mother of Marilyn and Michael. May lived for her family and her sisters and brother. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph Docherty and Mary Anne Hanson, brother Joseph Docherty (late Josephine), her sisters Margaret Brasseur (late Paul), and Isabelle Rice (late Maurice) and her daughter Marilyn Killaby Gravelle. May cherished and loved her nieces and their children. Some of May's favorite activities included little day trips for outings and lunches, also special teas and baked goods, and time with her family which made her the happiest. May loved babies and children, especially a special little boy named Eddie. She always had a smile and a laugh and kindness for everyone. Sadly May passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at home under the devoted love of her Son in her 98th year. She was a special mother and my best friend. She was truly an Angel on Earth. We will carry her love and memory in our hearts forever! I Love You Mom, your Son always Michael.
