GIRARD, Michael Wilfrid (Mike) (Retired General Electric Canada Employee)

Passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on Monday, October 31, 2022, age 72 years. Beloved husband of Susan (Sue) Brioux for 47 years. Loving brother of Wayne Girard (Carole) and Frank Girard; Nancy Crowell (late Cliff) predeceased. Son of the late Wilfrid (Fid) Girard and Mary Carveth. Dear brother-in-law of Rick Brioux (Mary), Dave Brioux (Ilene), the late Bill Brioux (surviving wife Adele), Anne Carter (Brian) and Jayne Hunt (Paul). Son-in-law of the late Bill and Joyce Brioux. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Mike contribnuted greatly to hockey and baseball in Peterborough as a player, coach and official. He was a certified hockey referee and baseball umpire for recreational leagues in Ontario. His friendly, easy going nature contributed to his success and longevity as a sports official. In his later years, Mike enjoyed golfing with relatives and friends, and played the sport at a high level. While walking his dogs, Mike enjoyed chatting and exchanging stories with other avid dog owners over the many years. Special thanks to Dr. Beamish and the nurses at Hospice Peterborough for their amazing care of Mike.  He will be sadly missed and dearly remembered.
