MOLONEY, Patricia Catherine

To the world at large, she was Pat. To those who cherished her most dearly, she was Beck. During this time of tender loss and fond remembrance, we are saddened to announce Beck's death on May 31st, 2017. Born to Peter and Sarah Moloney on May 25th, 1929, Beck completed their family of six children and was cradled in love from the day of her birth. Beck's formative years played out against the backdrop of the family farm with her siblings Alice (John O'Leary (d. 1953) and James Kinlin), Mick (Catherine Heffernan), Homer (Lorraine Young), Mary (Pat O'Donnell) and Tim (Dorothy Crough).

As a young adult, Beck began a long and enjoyable career as a valued employee of The Royal Bank. While she boarded in Peterborough throughout the week, all roads led home to the farm on Friday night for the weekend gathering of the clan. In 1963, Beck moved to East City with her parents where she graciously cared for them until their deaths in 1968. From 1963 onward, Beck's door was always open to warmly receive her siblings, their spouses and the 40 nieces and nephews who took great delight in seeing her. As the first one in the family to own a coloured television, it was nothing short of thrilling to be invited to Beck's for an evening in front of the 21" screen. We grew to realize that her invitations paralleled the colour she would always bring to our lives.

Firmly woven into the high value Beck attached to family, was her unshakeable faith. It was Beck who was fully present to celebrate the milestones in our lives and pray us through the challenges which threatened our visions of how we thought life should unfold. Pictured above with her Goddaughters Brenda, Elaine and Jeannie, Beck smiles brightly on her 59th birthday, secure in the knowledge that she belongs to us.
Beyond her family, Beck was richly blessed with a wide circle of friends. When Beck moved to Marycrest at Inglewood in 2003, her circle grew to include her fellow residents and for that she was intensely grateful.

Beck's surviving family of Lorraine and 35 nieces and nephews rejoice in believing that The One who called her by name has called her Home to complete the gathering of her birth family in The Eternal Holy City. Family and friends will be welcomed at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South, Peterborough on Sunday, June 4th from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.. Beck's funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 5th at 11:00 a.m. at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 386 Rogers Street, Peterborough. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery, Peterborough. Immediately following the graveside prayers, a reception will be held at Beck's birthplace, The Moloney Farm, 1567 Nassau Road, Douro-Dummer. Please make arrangements to attend as Beck calls us together one final time.
