Peterborough
SIMPSON, Patricia Rose (nee Maniex)
Patricia "Pat" Simpson passed away October 6, 2025 in Peterborough, Ontario after a battle with cancer. Born February 23, 1937 in Toronto, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Francis (Frank) Maniex and Margaret Hutchison. She was predeceased by her brother Frank "Sonny" Maniex in 2000. Survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert "Bob" Simpson, sister Margaret (Wray) Breen, Toronto ON, brother Bob Botham (Linda), Brampton ON, sister-in-law Pat Maniex, Moncton NB, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Pat overcame health issues as a child and enjoyed years of downhill skiing, swimming, skating, and boating among other activities. She and Bob built several cottages together. Pat loved the outdoors and lived for trees, rocks and water. They had cottages on Stoney Lake, Deer Bay, Pigeon Lake and Clear Lake. Pat had a strong faith in God and attended the Calvary Pentecostal Church. Her smile, laughter, impromptu singing and dancing will be greatly missed; especially her rendition of the Happy Birthday to You song. The family would like to thank the staff at Applewood Retirement Residence, Dr. Laura MacMillan-Jones and the Palliative care team at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, and the staff at Hospice Peterborough who have cared for Pat in recent months. A special thanks to Ron Luke, Beth Day, Marlene and Terry Reed, and Karen Dennis for all their care and support. We could not have made this journey without you.
