Obituary

SCOLLARD, Patrick Joseph (Pat)

December 23, 1945 – March 25, 2022

Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25th, 2022, in his 77th year, at Guelph Wellington Hospice. Predeceased by his parents Leo and Clara (nee Cavanagh) Scollard, his sister Elizabeth (Betty) Blakeley and his brother William (Bill) Scollard. Cherished brother of Colleen Staples (Rob) of Surrey, B.C. and Mary Claire Moher (Paul) of Ennismore. Dear brother-in-law of James Blakeley and Susanne Scollard. Beloved "Uncle Pat" to Jamie, Stephanie (David), Nicole (Lorne), Bart (Miranda), Chris (Danielle), Mike (Melissa) and Deanna (Patrick). Dearest great uncle of Flynn, Brooke, Kristin, Lauren, Luke, Jack, Aliena, Ava, Addison, Logan, William, Ellie, Brie, Cecilia, Rose and Alice. Missed by many cousins and countless friends, in particular longtime friend Carol Patterson. Special thanks to Dr. Janet MacEachern and to the care team at Guelph Wellington Hospice.

Pat was a teacher for 31 years with much of his career in the Guelph area and continued supply teaching for another 20 years until the age of 74. He was a truly special teacher and was extremely proud of his approach and impression on students. During his career and following his retirement he volunteered his time supporting individuals with special needs as well as seniors. Pat was a huge sports fan. He followed hockey and soccer pursuits of young members of his family and visited most of the Major League Baseball stadiums and attended many Super Bowls. He enjoyed playing hockey, baseball and golf, as well as playing guitar. He enthusiastically embraced his heritage and donned a leprechaun costume to celebrate St. Patrick's Day for decades. Pat will be remembered for his sense of adventure, love for children, generosity with his time, storytelling, and his true Irish wit.
