Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Hospital Drive on Friday October 26, 2007 in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Rita Coss (August 11, 1991). Loving father of Denise Oates of Peterborough and Martin Oates and wife Laura of RR # 4 Marmora. Dear grandfather of Rita, Elizabeth, Joseph, Patrick and Sara. Dear step-brother of Hazel Howe of England. Dear brother-in-law of Ken Coss and wife Eileen and Doreen and husband Charles Barry Thirnbeck. Also remembered by several nieces and nephews. Son of the late Alfred Oates and Margaret Sewell.

Visitation at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South from 2-5 p.m. Sunday. (Parish Prayers and Knights of Columbus St. Alphonsus Parish Council Prayers 3:30 p.m. Sunday). Funeral Mass in St. Alphonsus Church on Monday October 29, 2007 at 10 a.m. Reverend Paul Massel officiating. Interment Highland Park Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
