COLLINS, Vera Doreen

Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Leo Arthur (Sam) Collins. Loving mother of Janet (John) McCullough, Dr. John (Alison) Collins, David Collins and Julie (Steve) Fulford. Fun loving grandmother of Dr. Mark McCullough, Andrea (Grant) Gibson, Chris (Katherine Lapner) Collins, Heidi Collins, Russell (Lesley Bodnar) Collins, Michael (Caitlin) Fulford, Emily (Simon Child) Fulford and Alison Fulford. Great grandmother to Lauren and Natalie, Grace and Chloe, Hayley, Aidan and Sarah, Ryan, Calvin, Leo and Mila. Dear sister-in-law of Bill Gray. Dear aunt to several nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her parents, John Clark Buchanan and Annie Maria McConnell, and brother Elton Victor and sister Dorothy Irene.

After graduating high school, Vera worked at General Electric, proudly aiding the war effort building parts for Lancaster Bombers. With the arrival of Sam, the love of her life and dance partner, Vera dedicated her life to her family. She could "put up a good meal" as Sam used to say and oh those famous butter tarts. She was a talented seamstress, knitted many a scarf and mittens, was a crossword wizard and master of sudoku. In her 80's, she picked up the iPad to browse the internet and keep in touch with family and friends through FaceTime and texting. In all, a life well lived...

Visitation at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024 followed by a Celebration of Vera's life at 12 noon. Reception to follow in the Duffus Reception Centre. Interment at Rosemount Memorial Gardens.
