WEINDORFER, Zoltan Joseph (April 27, 1924 - December 2, 2008)
Peacefully, with his family by his side, Zoltan's spirit left us. He will be greatly missed by Margot, his wife of 55 years. He leaves his son Robert and wife Maureen Moloney, his son Jeffrey, and his daughter Anita and her good friend Andrea. He will be fondly missed by his granddaughter Emily, his grandson David, and his step-grandson Kevin. Zoltan always enjoyed spending time with his in-laws Magdalena (Maggie) and Angelo Bressan, and his sister-in-law Helen Weindorfer. He kept a special place in his heart for his nephew, Rodney, and for his nieces, Diane and Carmen. His brother, James (Imre) pre-deceased him.

Zoltan grew up in Hungary. After WWII, he worked his way across Europe, learning the skills of an auto mechanic, which was the trade that allowed him to immigrate to Canada in 1952. He settled in Oshawa, met and married Margot, and in 1960, he and his life-long business partner, Nick Schneider, opened their own repair shop and gas station. In 1965, with a mixture of vision and hard work, the partners began selling a little known car brand called Datsun. In 1971 they moved their growing business to Whitby, where their sons continue to operate Midway Nissan, Canada's third oldest Nissan franchise. Although he retired in 1991, Zoltan was always interested in the success of the business, but more so in the lives of the people who worked at the dealership.

For the past 34 years, Zoltan and Margot lived out at "The Farm", just north of Bethany. There he pursued his many interests and hobbies. He fixed and farmed, planted and built, studied and learned, cooked and read, played and relaxed. He truly knew how to enoy the simple pleasures in life.

We admire so many things about Zoltan-- his strength of faith, his love of family, his strength of character, his generosity, his loyalty, his work ethic, his enjoyment of a good meal, his understanding of the true meaning of friendship.

Visitation at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass in the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery Whitby on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society (Peterborough Chapter) or Covenant House (Toronto) would be appreciated by the family.
